Sobre Nós
Women for Sobriety uses a positive approach to recovery. WFS empowers women through the New Life Program, which consists of 13 Statements, or affirmations, which, when practiced daily, can show women how to experience life without the pain of addiction.
Women for Sobriety, Inc was founded in 1975 by Jean Kirkpatrick, Ph.D. During her own search for recovery, Jean recognized different aspects that women needed to address in recovery; low or no self esteem, loneliness, depression and overwhelming guilt. Drawing inspiration from Emerson and Thoreau and the likes, Jean created the New Life Program. Sharing her knowledge and passion, Jean wrote 4 books, Turnabout and Goodbye Hangovers Hello Life being the most popular.
Women for Sobriety meetings are available through weekly face to face meetings, and through our online community. Our face to face meetings are specialized to empower and connect women, while the Online Forum also has a message board and weekly chats that women can choose to attend. Each meeting is led by women in stable sobriety who are very familiar with the WFS Program. Various treatment centers also utilize the WFS Program as part of their programs.
