Palisades Cares

We encourage volunteering by residents of Pacific Palisades, CA and others by: networking with other organizations both in and out of the Palisades to support their missions and activities and to encourage their support of ours; organizing programs and workshops; spearheading volunteer projects.

We believe that each of us can make a difference in this world--and try to do that and encourage others to do so also.

We sponsor Palisades Reads, a community wide program centered around one book which we organize several times a year. Our books generally have a social/educational mission. Books have included Animal Vegetable Miracle, Mountains beyond Mountains, Anticancer, and The Soloist.

We encourage sustainable practices by distributing reusable bags, sponsoring beach cleanups, organizing events dealing with buying local and growing pesticide free, selling reusable Klean Kanteens and more. Since our founding, we have obtained grants for, and installed, recycling containers in town and bike racks. We have also designed and distributed a community recycling brochure for residents and businesses.

Our annual events include a fall school supplies drive for School on Wheels, an organization that tutors homeless children; a toy drive for needy kids in Santa Monica; a canned food drive at local grocery stores on MLK Day to benefit the local food bank; spring gardening workshops; and Palisades Reads discussions.
