Legacy Hospice of the West

Legacy Hospice of the West proudly serves the communities and rural areas of NE Oklahoma. Our staff is committed to providing compassionate care and support to patients and families whom have entrusted Legacy Hospice during for their end-of-life care.

Legacy Hospice of the West is currently looking for volunteers in the Miami,OK area. Volunteers may serve the by helping administratively in our office, or by visiting patients directly and providing companionship.

Volunteers may spend time with patients listening to music, reading aloud, doing crafts, conversing, singing, praying and more. Volunteers are rewarded with the appreciation of the patient; as well as bi-annual award banquets recognizing their service. Volunteers may serve as often or as little as they are able to.

Volunteers will complete a short application, a TB skin test, and a routine physical. Legacy Hospice will also perform a background check and reference check on the candidate. Volunteers must be 17+.

Prior to meeting patients, volunteers will complete a training course with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that the volunteer is comfortable with their responsibilities and prepared to have direct contact with patients and their families.
