The Marcy Lab School provides young adults between the ages of 18-24 from underestimated backgrounds with the skills, habits, and networks necessary to launch rewarding, purpose-driven careers in tech. We aim to create program cohorts that are 100% people of color with additional emphasis on gender parity.
Program Overview
The Marcy Lab School’s Software Engineering Fellowship Program is a 12-month, tuition-free, full-time program designed to prepare high-achieving young adults from diverse backgrounds for full-time careers in software engineering. During the Fellowship, students are immersed in a curriculum that includes:
- Computer science fundamentals
- Foundational principles in software engineering
- Leadership development grounded in social justice and critical race theory
Fellows learn to build scalable, full-stack web applications using technologies such as Node.js, PostgreSQL and React. In the program's final months, students can apply their learning in a software engineering apprenticeship or conduct a capstone research project on an advanced topic of study.
