"Athina"- Non-Profit, Non Governmental Organization For Psychosocial Development

N.G.O. “Athina” for Psychosocial Development & Psychotherapy is activated and specialised in the field of mental health, social inclusion and de- institutionalization of chronic psychiatric patients and is based in Athens, Greece. “Athina” operates two Mental Health Units of Psychosocial Rehabilitation (one in Athens and one in Messenia) hosting in total 30 adults with psychiatric disorders. The Units of Psychosocial Rehabilitation are designed to develop self-care ability and self-service of the interns, improve their social skills, participation in social activities and further education through psychiatric treatment and psychosocial support, particularly in the form of alternative therapy such as dance therapy, speech therapy etc. Additionally, “Athina” organizes and conducts information and awareness campaigns regarding mental health, combat of stigma and social exclusion etc.
