The Partnership for Hope

Sobre Nós

The Partnership for Hope places and resources volunteers for community service through active partnerships with other faith and community based organizations. We look to connect people in need to programs that are truly helpful in bringing emotional, physical, and spiritual health. As such we've created new programs and initiatives to address childhood obesity, addiction recovery, physical fitness, the care of senior adults, family-based counseling, a community garden, care for military veterans, and other initiatives to supply basic needs to homeless families, single parents, and struggling families.

The Partnership for Hope also resources and mobilizes individuals and small groups of people into service at homeless shelters, crisis pregnancy centers, housing facilities for low income and mentally challenged adults, and other local and regional faith-based ministries and community programs. It also promotes and provides leadership and support for regional events like the Veteran’s Support and Resource Showcase, Pennsylvania Child Welfare Roundtables, the Capitol Region United Way Basic Needs Summit, Harrisburg School District Poverty Simulations, and hosts fundraisers for community organizations.

In 2012 The Partnership for Hope was blessed to:

• help 321 struggling people and 109 homeless families return to housing from the Interfaith Family Homeless Shelter with furniture, household necessities, baby needs and care.

• extend our Get Up! Get Active! afterschool fitness and nutrition program through area elementary schools to help children who are at-risk for obesity.

• bring over a dozen organizations together to provide counseling, job training, worship services, and mentoring to former prisoners at a local ‘half-way’ house.

• serve other non-profit organizations with technology services, program and case management tools, website development, and consulting.

• organize and hosting regional events like this year’s Dauphin County’s Faith Summit, a Veteran’s Support and Resource Showcase, a Harrisburg School District Poverty Simulation, the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Roundtable, and other events. All told in 2012, The Partnership for Hope brought together over 140 churches, agencies, and ministries for the sole purpose of working together to help people in need.

• collect over $900,000 in household necessities and baby needs to help single parents, abused women and children, disabled adults, women leaving prison, the homeless, and at-risk youth.

• work with area churches and local township officials to launch a mobile skate park that provides safe opportunities for kids to skateboard, all supervised by caring youth group leaders.

• initiate a new collaboration to provide baby needs to single parents through what we expect will be a network of over a dozen ministries and agencies.

• foster collaborative efforts with over 45 organizations to begin to provide support, coordinated care, and companionship to military veterans.

• collaborate with dozens of churches, businesses, other ministries, and Dauphin County Human Services agencies to provide a meal, evening of entertainment, an array of resources, and Christmas presents to over 2,000 people, including several hundred homeless families.

• mobilize hundreds of volunteers into service at homeless shelters, crisis pregnancy centers, housing facilities for low income and mentally challenged adults, and other local and regional community programs.
