MonuMental

Our Mission:

Millions of students across the country struggle with managing their mental health; COVID-19 has only intensified this issue. Many high schoolers do not feel comfortable confiding in an adult or their school counselors. As a result, some students have dealt with mental health issues such as, depression, detachment, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and even as far as Suicide. There are many misconceptions of mental health; by providing the resources and information students need, MonuMental seeks to normalize seeking mental health help! As a community, students, parents, mental health professionals, teachers, and other volunteers can join our cause and help destigmatize mental health. This will benefit the whole community now as well as in the future.

What We Will Do:

MonuMental will work closely with Our Minds Matters and Public Schools to develop outreach material and destigmatize mental health. In order to execute this plan, MonuMental will create original posts daily, host monthly/quarterly Zoom Meetings with guests such as Mental Health Advocates and professional therapists, and be mental health advocates. We welcome all individuals to share their own experiences, provide guidance, and attend the Zoom Meetings for free. In addition, MonuMental will work towards creating Our Minds Matters clubs throughout Public Schools and will work with guidance counselors to provide access and support.
