The Center for Urban Community Services helps people rise from poverty, exit homelessness, and be healthy.

For nearly 50 years, CUCS has advanced lasting stability for individuals and communities by delivering integrated housing, healthcare, and support services rooted in dignity, trust, and human connection. Through a comprehensive, relationship-centered model, CUCS meets people where they are, addressing homelessness, responding to immediate crises, and building pathways to long-term independence. By combining decades of proven outcomes with innovative approaches to care, CUCS transforms lives and sets the standard for how cities can respond to homelessness, mental health challenges, and systemic inequities at scale.

CUCS works in all five boroughs of New York City to support individuals and families through outreach programs, shelters and transitional programs, drop-in centers, and permanent supportive housing. Our dedicated teams assist homeless, formerly homeless, and low-income individuals and families to connect with benefits support, receive primary medical and mental healthcare from our award-winning healthcare affiliate Janian Medical Care and improves the services New Yorkers receive by providing professional training to partner nonprofits through the innovative Training Institute.
