The HEARTbeats Foundation strives to help children in need harness the power of music to better cope with, and recover from, the extreme challenges of poverty and conflict.

Growing up surrounded by conflict, violence, HIV/AIDS or extreme poverty can takea heavy toll on a child’s development and well-being. Many children – especially the youngest – cannot articulate what they have experienced or are feeling, and so their emotional needs are often under-estimated and ignored. We believe that by addressing these issues through the therapeutic use of music, we can help them find an alternative way to cope and in so doing, offer them the possibility of emotional healing even if we can't physically take the pain away.
