Garden to Table

Our mission is to create a sustainable local food system that builds community, improves access to healthy food, and teaches residents how to cultivate their own fruits and vegetables in San José, CA.

We transformed a vacant lot into an urban farm, located on W. Taylor Street in downtown San José, in 2013. The ultimate goals of the farm are three-fold: provide access to fresh produce, act as our main educational venue to benefit the broader community, and provide a steady source of revenue to sustain our organization.

Since 2010, we have built 8 neighborhood gardens at apartment buildings, schools, and homes in Central San José. We have harvested and donated over 30,000 pounds of fruit from neighborhood trees to local food programs. We continue to conduct numerous gardening and nutrition classes for community members and elementary school students.
