The Cleveland Orchestra MIami

Beginning in 2004, a remarkable group of leaders supported a Cleveland Orchestra Miami residency concept that received parallel encouragement from the leadership of Miami’s new Performing Arts Center.

Following two years of planning, the project was launched in August 2006 with the Orchestra taking the central role in the vitally important acoustical testing of the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall, the state-of-the-art concert hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

Public performances were launched in January 2007, and included two subscription series, plus family and education concerts. They were met with resoundingly positive critical and audience response. Sold-out performances plus encouraging national and international press coverage amplified the success.

Under the guidance of its Miami-based Board of Directors, The Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s commitment to education and community service is as vibrant in Miami as it has been in Cleveland since the renowned Cleveland Orchestra was founded in 1918. In May 2012, the Board unanimously approved an expansion of the Orchestra’s subscription concert season from three to four weeks while reaffirming its commitment to its vision and four core values:
