JBI Library

JBI fills a unique niche within the Jewish community. Originally founded as the Jewish Braille Institute, JBI was created in 1931 by Leopold Dubov, the blind son of a rabbi, with the help of Rabbi Michael Aaronson, who had been blinded in World War I. While JBI’s programs have expanded dramatically, its core mission remains the same-to enable individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are blind, have low vision, or are print disabled to participate fully in all aspects of Jewish educational, cultural, and communal life.
