About Global Village Museum

In June 2006, Global Village Museum was envisioned by a group of community member, many whom served in Peace Corps or were interested and curios about other cultures.

They wanted to offer a place that could engage and inspire visitors to learn more about other cultures-the people, their arts, history, food and living environment in order to promote understanding and peace. They felt that to create such a space, a museum displaying the many treasures from all around the world would be only a start to stimulate curiosity and learning.

They decided through a strategic planning process in March 2009, that the museum had to also provide displays that were interactive and experiential, allow speakers and storytellers to share stories, traditions and experiences, attract artists that could recreate techniques used for creating their artifacts and a space that the community could call theirs, a center for global culture and understanding. The 501(c) (3) known as Our Global Village Museum and Learning Center was created in 2009 when the 501(c) (3) Mundoville joined hand with the 501(c) (3) previously called "The Peace Corps Museum".

From this merger of the two organizations, accomplishments include: the donation of approximately of 4-6 million dollars of artifacts, 1.500 Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCV) have been identified on Northern Colorado who will contribute artifacts, and over 4000 hours of in-kind has been donated by the board and other volunteers.

Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures promotes international understanding through its collections and activities. A new room exhibit of the Treasures of Global Village Museum and connected office opened in Fort Collins in March 2010.

Global Village Museum and Learning Center is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with an endowment account through the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, and has several collaborating partner organizations. Vision and Mission Vision
