Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic

Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic is a large 7 exam room free clinic located on Johns Island, SC, and provides free primary medical and specialty care to uninsured adults. We treat low income adults between the ages of 18-65 who are living at or below 299% of the Federal poverty level and live or work on Johns, Wadmalaw or James Island, Folly Beach, or those who serve downtown Charleston Hospitality industry.

Based on the Volunteers In Medicine model, BIFMC is an extraordinary example of what can be accomplished when a group of volunteers work together to serve the needs of the community. The Clinic is currently staffed by 140 volunteer physicians, nurses, and administrative support, treating over 450 patients each month. Due to the nature of our work and training required, we request at least a 6 month minimum for volunteers with schedule flexibility. Learn more at www.bifmc.org
