Freire Charter School is an independent public school enrolling 1000 students in grades five to twelve. Since the opening of its doors in 1999, Freire has aimed to be the premier open-admissions public school in Philadelphia. Located in Center City Philadelphia, Freire attracts students from all parts of the city.
The mission of Freire is to provide a college preparatory education with a focus on individual freedom, critical thinking, and problem solving in an environment that emphasizes the values of community, teamwork, and nonviolence.
