Appalachian Opportunity Fund

Appalachian Opportunity Fund's mission is to foster individual financial health and build community wealth in Central Appalachia. We accomplish this by providing financial coaching and equitable access to capital, equipping individuals and families with financial management skills and resources.

We are an innovative social enterprise providing financial coaching as an employee benefit to regional businesses in East Tennessee. Financial coaching as an employee benefit has been shown to reduce financial stress and improve mental health, productivity, engagement, and retention. Our customers (i.e., local businesses) receive onsite coaching services that work with employees during breaks in their workday. They also receive monthly or quarterly impact reports for customer insight and organizational transparency.

AOF’s financial coaching is client-based and confidential. We work one-on-one with our clients to help them in their unique financial situations. Our certified coaches help clients with car/home buying, budgeting and saving, raising credit score, managing and consolidating high interest debt, and more. We also offer clients access to our Financial Freedom Fund micro loan program for those who have difficulty accessing capital from other financial institutions.
