Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community Corps members to serve preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Our proven curriculum helps children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for kindergarten, setting them on a path to close the achievement gap before it is too late.
Every child is born with the potential to succeed, but studies have shown that children from low-income backgrounds start kindergarten 60% behind their peers. And most of the time, they never catch up. This can lead to poor academic performance, higher dropout rates, and even jail time.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Jumpstart makes a difference in children’s lives early on, which puts them on a path to success. So, when you support our efforts, you make a direct impact on the life of a child and his or her future. This has a ripple effect that makes a difference in the community, city, and the entire country at large.
Jumpstart relies 100% on college students, community members and others to volunteer their time and expertise to serve children and instill a life-long love of learning and literacy.
So, how can you get involved? In a million different ways! We have openings in just about every area of Jumpstart—it’s just a matter of finding the right fit.
