For the past two decades, since September 11, 2001, the Cinema for Peace Initiative has been using the medium of film to influence the perception and resolution of social, political, and humanitarian challenges of our world.
Additionally, since 2002, the annual Cinema for Peace Gala in Berlin has awarded socially and politically valuable films and raised funds to support global humanitarian projects.
Since 2008, the nonprofit organization Cinema for Peace Foundation has supported humanitarian film projects and organized free film screenings in politically and socially relevant areas. The Foundation has also sponsored filmmakers and spearheaded human rights campaigns, community outreach projects, and peacebuilding activities. Over the years, the Foundation has partnered with Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Human Rights Watch, the International Criminal Court, and United Nations programs.
