We perform such tasks as painting, minor repair work, and minor landscaping, in order to improve homes and neighborhoods. BRIGHTEN supports the "broken windows" theory, which states that a maintained urban area allows residents to take pride in their community, which then reduces criminal and anti-social behavior. So, by helping private homeowners deal with city code violations, BRIGHTEN allows entire neighborhoods to enjoy the public benefits of the improvements.
