Sailing Education Adventures

Sailing Education Adventures (SEA) believes sailing is a unique experience that builds lifelong character, teaches invaluable skills, and fosters a positive active community.

We are dedicated to promoting sailing through affordable instruction and related on the water activities in order to build character, teach invaluable skills, and foster a positive active community.

As a nonprofit community sailing center, SEA’s goals are to provide participants and community members with high-quality instructional programs; leadership development and skill building opportunities; and a strong and supportive community.

SEA supports its mission and advances our goals through the following activities and programs:

1. On-the-water and classroom instructional programs for adults and children.
2. Community building programs and volunteer activities to support engagement with and enjoyment of sailing and marine activities.
3. Joint efforts with other community serving organizations to further common interests.

Since 1971 Sailing Education Adventures (SEA) has been delivering “high-quality instructional programs; leadership development and skill building opportunities.” Originally a program of the Oceanic Society, SEA became an independent nonprofit in 1990. Initially focused on adults, in 1984, SEA launched its first sail camp and has offered public youth sailing programs ever since. SEA was the first Northern California organization to sponsor US Sailing’s Level 1 Instructor and Safety at Sea courses. Since 1999, SEA has been a California Division of Boating and Waterways grant recipient. This support along with membership fees, youth and adult program fees, and individual donation supports SEA’s staff, fleet, and programming including scholarships. Current youth programs include 5 one-week sessions for 8-10 year olds, and 4 two week sessions for 11-16 year olds as well as spring and fall weekend sailing for 12-17 year olds.
