Pamo Volunteers

  • Sobre Nós

Mission: To achieve lasting improvement in the quality of life of the poor, marginalized and disadvantaged persons by enabling them, their families and communities to meet their basic needs and to increase their ability to participate in and benefit from their societies.

Our values: People (people are at all the stages of development), Partnership, equality, transparency, command for change, Learning and skills.

The above values that guide the activities of Pamo Volunteers are based on the international human rights treaties and rights of minorities.

    How we work:

Pamo Volunteers works in concert and partnership with local communities that must accept that they own development projects and fully commit themselves to participate actively in project management.

Pamo Volunteers uses donations economically, effectively and for the designated purpose. We offer true and fair financial reporting, provide transparent information and have appropriate controls. We are honest and procure our funds in a fair manner.

    Commitment to quality:

Pamo Volunteers is committed to achieving excellence in meeting the needs of the people it serves through the creation and maintenance of an enabling management environment centered on a process of continuous improvement, measurement and systematic support involving all levels of the organization.

Overall objective: Is poverty alleviation and improved welfare of the moderate and extreme poor in rural areas.

Whom we serve: We work in rural areas of Kumi district, east of Uganda Where those who are economically outside the reach of mainstream services and support, live. We are rooted in these communities and operate with community involvement, and investment, embracing the community as an integral part of the project. Individuals and groups from our area generously pray for Pamo Volunteers success. Each time, we are able to partner with a low- income family to meet their long-term need for safe water and other basic needs.

We feel called to not only continue meeting the needs of those living in poverty, but to accelerate our efforts. Today, in Teso sub – region, the latest statistics show that more than 6 children in every family of 15 persons, are suffering from water related diseases, undernourished and their parents have no source of income and above all are illiterate. They turn to us as a last hope.

We, then, as the voice of the downtrodden, turn to kind people like you and others on their behalf.

    What We Do

We defend human rights: Human rights are trampled underfoot just about everywhere. We defend people who are the victims of violence or injustice.

We care for the integrity of creation: Climate change and environmental destruction affect us all ‒ but poor people are always hit the hardest. We tackle the root causes and try to mitigate the consequences.

We support women: Women suffer most from hunger, poverty, violence, and discrimination. We provide support and empowerment and campaign for equal rights. We provide sex education and help to improve the provision of health services.

We back children and young people: In a lot of places girls and boys work hard from dawn until dusk, live on the streets, or are abused as child soldiers. We help to ensure that they can grow up in a safe and caring environment and that their rights are safeguarded.

We ensure food security: People suffer from hunger and malnutrition in many parts of the world. We help small farmers produce enough healthy food on a long-term basis.

We combat poverty: One third of the world's population is poor, so they have little chance of a life with dignity. We help disadvantaged people increase their income.

We promote education: Hundreds of millions of people around the world are unable to read or write. We make it possible for children to go to school. And we fund vocational training for young people.

We improve health care: Life-threatening diseases such as typhus and cholera are still widespread. We run health education programmes and help to improve the provision of health services.

We give people access to water: There is a serious lack of water in Uganda and many parts of the world. We supply a lot of people with drinking water and make it possible for farming families to irrigate their fields.

We are recommended by auditors. We are very grateful to you for demonstrating your trust in Pamo Volunteers by giving us a donation. In order to ensure that all the money entrusted to us is used appropriately and effectively, we have set up a variety of monitoring measures ‒ ranging from independent auditing of our project partners to auditing of our own annual accounts by a firm of auditors. They certify our proper use of financial resources by awarding us their seal of approval every year.
