Bokamoso Youth Foundation

The Bokamoso Youth Foundation is a US based organization that supports the Bokamoso Youth Centre, a South African organization that works to empower, promote leadership and transform the lives of youth in the city of Wintervelt, a community about 30 miles outside of Pretoria.

We believe that:

• youth are the future of every culture and country and that marginalizing youth is a lost natural resource;
• providing access to appropriate educational and vocational training unleashes potential and provides opportunities to transform families and communities; 
• cultural exchanges enrich communities, and build strong, meaningful, and lasting relationships;
• artistic expression nurtures self-discovery and understanding between individuals and cultures; and
• supporting entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking and providing access to infrastructure enables sustainable economic initiatives.

The US-based Bokamoso Youth Foundation is run by a volunteer Board of Directors, who set program priorities and raise and administer donations to achieve the South African based Youth Centre's goals.

Each year in January, 12 youth from South Africa travel to the US for a month-long exchange program and performing arts tour. The youth are hosted by familes from the St. Andrew's Episcopal School community and George Washington University in the Washington, DC area.
