Founded in 1963, PRS, Inc. is an award-winning nonprofit organization that has transformed the lives of thousands of people in Northern Virginia living with mental illness, substance use disorders, mild intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum diosorders, or faces life crises. PRS provides individuals with intensive skills training and support to community members in need so they have the ability to live independently, maintain housing, remain in the community and out of the psychiatric hospital, and engage in community activities, such as employment, volunteerism, education pursuits. PRS also provides 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention support through the CrisisLink hotline and textline.
Our Programs
Offered at center sites in Alexandria, Fairfax, and District of Columbia, and at residential sites across Northern Virginia and in the community.
Recovery Academy – provides a curriculum-based day program that promotes movement out of PRS' facility-based programming and into meaningful community alternatives such as work, volunteering and school. Services assisting with transition to community-based activities and dual diagnoses also offered.
Employment Services – provides support and training for clients who are ready for competitive employment in the community to help them choose, get and keep jobs.
Community Support Services – provides individually tailored, community-based, intensive skills training and supports to meet each client's unique needs, abilities and goals.
Community Housing – provides non-time-limited housing and support to help clients live as independently as possible.
PRS CrisisLink - provides 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention through a hotline and textline program.
