Japan Exchange & Teaching Program

The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) is Japan's largest and most reputable program that brings young professionals from over 40 countries around the world to work full-time in Japan, primarily as language instructors. Through foreign language and cultural education, it aims to foster ties on a personal and local level between the youth of Japan and young foreign professionals. Each year, the Japanese government invites qualified applicants to live and serve in public and private high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools, as well as in local Japanese government offices throughout Japan.

Contracts are for a one-year period, which can be renewed for a total of up to five years at the discretion of the contracting organization in Japan. The available positions, which will begin in late July/early August, are Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) and Coordinator for International Relations (CIR).  Visit our website to learn more about job functions and eligibility criteria for these positions.

All applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree in order to be eligible and all majors are welcome. TESL/TEFL certification is not required, but is taken into consideration. Applicants must apply through their country of citizenship.
