Sobre Nós

Blue Mission is a Lebanese organisation (NGO) having its origins in 1985 when it was set up at the end of the Lebanese civil war to foster peace through a number of peace and human rights projects. In 2002 it set up its Training Centre for Community Development (TCCD) as a Lebanese cooperative to work on implementation of social development programs. It has since registered as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) under Lebanese statute with the Ministry of the Interior (Fiche 10667/2006). We work with the permission and support of the Ministry of Education, The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinians (UNRWA), private school directors and a number of other NGOs. Blue Mission is politically and religiously unaffiliated. It collaborates with several governmental and non-governmental organisations in Lebanon in promoting empowerment of people in Lebanese society. The TCCD team consists of trainers, teachers, a coordinator and an administrator, together with a large number of volunteers and supporters. The Centre is a place where people of a variety of backgrounds are trained. It serves not only children, but also their parents, in order to promote relationships and communication in families. Training programs are held in the Centre, at schools and in other venues throughout Lebanon. The centre has an excellent reputation for an unprecedented range of activities and services in the whole region. We hope that you find these pages both informative and encouraging. Key problems addressed by Blue Mission’s programme include: •Violence in Schools •Domestic Violence •Unresolved Conflict •Disregard of Human Rights •Disempowerment of Women •Lack of Participation in Community Processes •All forms of discrimination

In all its activities, Blue Mission is guided by the following Core Values: •All people have the responsibility to respect the human rights of others •Any form of discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, religion, gender or age is unacceptable •Violence behaviour in any form will not be tolerated •Challenges and conflict are best resolved by working together democratically •The voices of all members of the community are valuable. Their empowerment can make a difference •Health is incomplete without spiritual peace •A health society respects the well-being of the environment
