The Citizens' Institute's mission is to "Educate and Empower Citizens". We believe that engaged Citizens are our best hope for building the future that we all want. We are strictly non-partisan advocates for democracy. We believe that the principles upon which America was founded, such as "Liberty and Justice for All" and the "Common Good", should guide our public policy direction and that the role of special interests and extremists should be subordinate to the "will of the people". In the form of Citizen Resolutions, we provide a vehicle whereby normal citizens can seek concensus on key public policy issues. We seek to stimulate public discussion of the issues, especially in our schools. We seek to find the "Higher Common Ground".
