LAZARUS HOUSE

Lazarus House has three comprehensive programs to support the homeless and those at risk of homelessness: Emergency Shelter Program, which includes our Women & Children’s Day Center, Center for Transitional Living, and Outreach Program. The purpose of our services is to assist clients to increase self-sufficiency with the goal of achieving and maintaining permanent community housing. Lazarus House also serves as a soup kitchen for struggling households and as a de facto 24/7 crisis hotline for over 1,600 calls last year. Over the past 18 years Lazarus House has been proactive in optimizing its ability, in partnership with others, to live its mission of offering hope and a future to those in need.

The shelter is open 24 hours, 365 days a year, Monday through Saturday and at least 15 hours on Sunday. The Women and Children's Day Center is open seven days a week from morning until bedtime. The Center for Transitional Living is open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Three meals are provided: a hot meal in the evening, breakfast, and a lunch (bag lunches are provided for those who need one). Local churches and other community volunteers prepare and serve meals. A strong case management focus is offered to each person to help them address their specific needs.
