The Master of Studies in Law (MSL) Program at UC Law San Francisco
University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (UC Law SF, formerly UC Hastings), was established in 1878 as the first law department of the University of California system.
The UC Law SF Master of Studies in Law (MSL) is a 24-credit program designed for passionate leaders and innovators who want to make a greater impact in their fields with a knowledge of law, but who don’t want to become lawyers. MSL students take courses alongside Juris Doctor students, allowing for not only the interdisciplinary discussion of complex legal issues, but the opportunity to grow networks beyond one’s program.
An understanding of legal reasoning and doctrine is critical for forward-thinking individuals to thrive in this increasingly interconnected environment. The flexible MSL curriculum, with 15 different specialization options, allows our students to dive deep into their area of focus while gaining the knowledge and skills required to think like a lawyer, communicate across disciplines, and evaluate issues from a legal perspective to make more informed decisions. Upon graduation students are equipped with the tools necessary to make themselves and their organization more competitive.
Students can complete their MSL degree in one-year or spread out part-time over 1 1/2 to 4 years. Click the link below for more information.
