Apartment Angel provides good-will, interest-free loans for one month's rent to residents suffering from unexpected, short-term financial hardship. Without these loans the residents would be evicted from their homes.
The rent is paid directly to the property on their behalf and the residents then repay their loans over a period of 5 to 12 months.
We made our first loan in the fall of 2012. Over the past 18 months we have helped nearly 50 great renters remain in their apartments, allowing these residents to stay in their homes. To date 75% have repaid their loans, which has resulted in a $4 helping effect for every $1 contributed.
Over the next 12 months our goal is to prevent 500 good-renter evictions from happening. In order to make this a reality we are raising $250,000 through outside donations.
