Sobre Nós
Neighborhood Ministries, which began 35 years ago, is a holistic outreach, primarily to the Latino community in urban Phoenix. It is committed to breaking the destructive cycle of poverty, by serving the poor, building local churches and developing indigenous leadership. Through our programs at Neighborhood Ministries (NM), we interact with and have the opportunity to love, encourage, and empower over 1,000 children and adults on a weekly basis! Much of this work and these relationships rely on volunteers who jump in with us, responding to the call of Jesus to love, serve, and be changed by the poor and marginalized among us. At NM we have a progression of volunteer opportunities, starting from what we call entry-points and going all the way to two-year internships and lifelong commitments. It takes volunteers at each of these levels to make our work and the fulfillment of God's call in our community happen. It also provides our volunteers with a progression of opportunities for their own growth as God uses experiences here to transform our volunteers' lives. They range from preschool classes, parenting classes, afterschool programs for K-12 grade, summer programs for K-7th graders, high school to college programs, women support groups, social justice/civic engagement, youth leadership development, youth spiritual development, college access, food bank, parent volunteer programs, employment services, , thrift store, , wood shop, mentoring, bilingual church, voter registration, SNAP, urban farm and discipleship house.
