Bergen Reads is a youth literacy program dedicated to inspiring low level readers in grades K-4 with a love of reading, thereby enriching their lives and opportunities for future success.

Trained adult volunteer "Reading Buddies" act as mentors, advocates and role models, going into Teaneck and Hackensack public elementary schools for weekly one-on-one reading experiences with their assigned kindergarten through fourth grade students from October through June. Volunteers give one hour per week during the school day to work with two students, one half hour each.

Bergen Reads trains volunteers to work one on one with students in grades K-4 in the public elementary schools in Hackensack and Teaneck, NJ. Volunteer Reading Buddies work one on one with two students, one half hour each, during the school day. The program runs from October through June.
