Our mission is to build a healthy and stable community by providing financial education, food, and nurturing accountability.

Birch Community Services (BCSI) Sustainable Families Program has been providing services to working families from around northwest Oregon and southwest Washington since 1992. Our program last year re-distributed over 16 million pounds of donated food and other products to over 1,000 families, and a program of workshops to instruct participant families in skills to facilitate self-sufficiency: e.g. financial literacy, money management, household budgeting and backyard/community gardening.

With dignity, accountability, and a strong sense of community, we support families in creating the legacy they want to leave for generations to come.
