Charitable Public Association "World Without Borders"

Charitable Public Association “World without Borders” began its activity in 2000. The main goals and objectives of the organization are to render a comprehensive aid and support for children with special psychophysical needs and youths in conflict with the law. An important part of the work of the organization is to draw attention to the situation of children within the country and by addressing the state, and social organizations, in Belarus it has been possible to develop and implement nationwide and regional programs aimed at improving the current situation.

At the moment WWB has three directions of work:

1) the first direction of work is aimed to introduce and develop a model of social adaptation of inmates of house-boarding schools for children and young people with special needs into the practice of social work in the Republic of Belarus. The basic direction of the activities is to reorient the system of house-boarding institutions for children and young people with disabilities from the principle of providing vital support to the principle of personal development and self-sufficiency assistance.

Target groups of this direction are:

- inmates of house-boarding schools (including those who cannot stay in the departments of independent living on account of their diagnosis);

- graduates of the departments of independent living and accompanied living;

- staff of house-boarding schools;

- heads of house-boarding schools.

2) the second direction of work is aimed to reorientate of work with children and young people in conflict with the law, inmates of the closed type institutions from the principle of social exclusion to the principle of social inclusion through the introduction of a new model of interaction between governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Target groups of this direction are:

- inmates and graduates of the closed type institutions and other establishments for children and young people in conflict with the law or in the group of risk;

- heads and employees of the above-mentioned institutions;

- specialists of socio-pedagogical centres, social and upbringing schools’ services;

- biological and foster families for children in conflict with the law;

- "contact persons" - a specially trained group of volunteers to work with the inmates and graduates of the closed type institutions.

3) the third direction of work is implemented with the support of the United Nations Democracy Fund - “Еmpowering Young People with Disabilities through the Right to Labour and Еntrepreneurship“. The aim of the project is to organize and expand various forms of employment for young people with disabilities in accordance with articles 19, 27, 28 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. A team of consultants in the sphere of individual entrepreneurship and crafts, economic and legal support work to ensure the best project implementation. All the human and instructional resources are joined in the Center of Support of Entrepreneurship and Employment of Young People with Disabilities.
