Sobre Nós

Spinal Cord Injury BC’s mission is to help people with spinal cord injury (or related physical disability), and their families, adjust, adapt and thrive by providing answers, information and unique community experiences. We acheive this through our two core programs: Peer Program and Information Services. It is estimated that 500 new spinal cord injuries will occur this year in British Columbia alone. Despite every effort during rehabilitation to prepare someone with a new spinal cord injury (SCI) for community living, returning home in a wheelchair to a life that has changed in every aspect is a frustrating and frightening reality. Family members and friends are often willing to help, but don’t know where to begin. SCI BC is a lifeline – a wealth of professional skills, knowledge and practical experience on living well with a disability in the community, as part of the community.

SCI BC has more than 1400 members from Victoria to Fort St. John, with service levels ranging from one-on-one mentoring, to resources on the web. Our innovative team provides critical and unique services for the SCI and disability community throughout BC and beyond.
