The mission of Anixter Center is to provide services that enhance lives, promote inclusivity, and strengthen community.

At Anixter Center, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and connection. For more than a century, we have been a lifeline in Chicago—breaking down barriers and building inclusive communities where people of all abilities can thrive. Through our work, we empower children, adults, and families to navigate life’s challenges, embrace their potential, and feel truly seen and supported.

Our mission comes to life through three core service pillars: Chicago Hearing Society, Disability Services, and Mental Health Services. Through the Chicago Hearing Society, we stand alongside individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing—offering vital supports like domestic violence advocacy, case management, mentoring programs, audiology services, and specialized DeafBlind Co-Navigation training. Our Disability Services empower people living with disabilities by providing residential homes, day programs, and employment opportunities that foster independence and community connection. In addition, our Mental Health Services extend compassionate care through residential treatment, counseling, day programming, community outreach, and a welcoming drop-in center called The Hub—a safe space where no one has to face challenges alone.
