The Saint John Paul II National Shrine continues the mission and legacy of Saint John Paul II through catechetical programs, special events, and liturgical life. Established in 2011 and designated a national shrine by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2014, the shrine’s permanent exhibit contains moving videos, dynamic interactive displays, and personal artifacts of the pontiff. The chapel contains a first-class relic for veneration, and there are floor-to-ceiling mosaics designed by a world-renowned Catholic artist in both the shrine’s church and chapel.
