The mission of the Clean Boating Foundation is to provide voluntary market based solutions for a more environmentally sustainable recreational boating industry and to promote clean boating practices.
Clean Boating Foundation is a start-up, growing organization with close ties to Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA). NMTA has led the way with similar ventures in the past, including helping form the Clean Marina Program, mandatory boater education safety, and phasing-out copper-bottom paint. Working with member business, this role would be critical in designing a program that assists boatyards in using voluntary, market-based solutions. The designation as “Clean” would showcase those boatyards that are taking the extra-steps to protect Puget Sound.
