LVP MISSION MEDIA

LVP Mission Media (LVPMM) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower marginalized people by mainstreaming their experiences, connecting them to resources & opportunities, and strengthening their voices for equality & systemic change.  LVPMMs’vision is to globalize the voices of underrepresented groups by providing equal visibility, accurate representation and change based stories that promote civic engagement. 

LVPMM offers one summer and six year-round, community based-programs: LVP Road To Recovery (After School for Girls 14-17 & Recovery Support for Woman), LVP Safe Space (Mental Health Services) young women ages 18-21, LVP Senior Solutions (Senior Advocacy), LVP Leading Ladies (Mentoring), LVP Shared Space (Co-Work Space Entrepreneurial Training for women ages 25-37), LVP Links (Emergency Response System) and LVP Conscious Connections (Collaborative Civic Engagement). 

LVPMM was Founded in 2023 to serve urban families of Northern New Jersey at Lions Vision Productions Studios.  Its projected budget is $729,240, with a starting staff of five.  Additionally supported by volunteers, LVPMM participants will spend over 600 hours per year in supportive services, after-school and summer instruction.  LVPMM plans to begin a process of scaling over the next 3-5 years.

LVPMM was established because the underrepresentation by people of color leading non-profit organizations directly affects the ability to deliver appropriate services to those in most need.   In New Jersey, the demand for services increased 78% in 2022, outpacing a 51% funding increase after 2020.  However, the funding gap between Black-led organizations and white-led organizations is clear—and alarming. One study of more than 140 nonprofits found that white-led groups had budgets that were 24% larger than those led by people of color.  The leadership (CEOs) of those organizations are 79% white and board members 82% white, while nearly 46% of those organizations reports service recipients being primarily Black, or non-white.
