UNITE HERE Local 8

UNITE HERE is a union representing more than 300,000 people throughout North America. UNITE HERE’s membership is very diverse, comprised largely of immigrants and including high percentages of African-American, Latino, and Asian-American workers. In Washington, our union (Local 8) represents over 4,000 hospitality workers, including hotel workers in downtown Seattle, Tacoma, and SeaTac; the food and beverage workers at SeaTac airport; and the concessions workers at Qwest and Safeco fields. We are building a movement to lift hotel workers above the poverty line.
