Sobre Nós

Founded in 1995, the Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) provides opportunities for men and women, age 50 and older, to use their skills, talents, and life experiences to serve poor communities in need. Members of this Jesuit-affiliated program commit to volunteering 600 hours per year at their assigned site (generally Sept-June), and participate in IVC’s unique spiritual reflection program, rooted in the Jesuit tradition of Ignatian spirituality. IVC has grown to over 300 volunteers in 16 U.S. cities. Now entering its 12th year, IVC Chicago is a vibrant, growing program with 40 volunteers serving at 30 secular and faith-based organizations across the Chicagoland area. Volunteers are in diverse positions of service including tutoring/mentoring at all levels of education to working in food pantries and shelters, social service agencies, hospital and prison ministries, immigration advocacy, and beyond.
