Smithwright Services is an agency founded in 1980 whose mission is "Providing environments where children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism live, work, and play in their community."
Along with the original group home that serves medically fragile adults with developmental disabilities, Smithwright Services now has 13 supported living homes in which adults live independently in the community, with staff support. In 2006, responding to the tremendous and growing need for services to children with autism, Smithwright also began serving high needs children and youth with autism ages 6 to 21 in small, homelike group care settings.
The following goals support the mission of Smithwright Services:
Goal 1: Provide a safe, structured living environment children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities
Goal 2: Promote a positive atmosphere which fosters personal independence and a true understanding of self worth
Goal 3: Advocate for community integration of children and adult residents with autism and other developmental disabilities
