Season of Justice

Season of Justice (SOJ) is a nonprofit dedicated to providing funding for investigative agencies and families to help solve cold cases. SOJ provides grants for advanced DNA analysis solutions, such as forensic genealogy and next-generation sequencing, for investigative agencies in an effort to solve these complex cases. The organization also awards grants for families to support awareness campaigns and other initiatives that can assist in pushing their cold cases forward. SOJ’s goal is to provide financial resources for both investigative agencies and families in order to bring resolution to those impacted by unsolved violent crimes.

We are dedicated to pursuing justice for unsolved violent crimes, offering vital resources and unwavering support to both investigative agencies and affected families. Through partnerships, fundraising campaigns, and efficient program management, SOJ aims to be the trusted resource for delivering financial support to those in need. With a commitment to equity and transparency, we want to create lasting change in the justice system and ensure all victims and their families have the chance for resolution and healing.

Background & History

Season of Justice was founded in 2020 to address the crucial funding gaps that frequently prevent law enforcement from accessing advanced forensic testing. Through our DNA Testing program, we offer critical financial assistance that drive investigations forward, enabling significant progress and impactful outcomes.

SOJ also offers financial assistance for families of cold case victims through its Public Awareness Campaigns (PAC) program, aimed at bringing attention to unsolved cases and generating new leads.

Season of Justice’s innovative “direct to vendor” model ensures accountability, streamlines the investigative process, and eliminates any delays or complications, resulting in ethical stewardship of funds entrusted to our organization.

Through these initiatives, the organization has rapidly emerged as a leader in the criminal justice community, earning a reputation as an indispensable resource for advancing justice in unsolved cases across the country.

With the support of our vibrant community of board members, partners, and stakeholders, Season of Justice’s small but dedicated team works daily to achieve our common goal: delivering justice to victims of violent crimes. Since its inception, SOJ has awarded over 240 grants, directly contributing to the resolution of 31 cases.
