Sobre Nós

Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC) is a college-access focused nonprofit organization that prepares high-achieving, under-resourced high school students to get into, excel at, and graduate from strong-fit four-year colleges. Founded in December 2009, BRYC helps its students, or “Fellows” develop the cognitive and non-cognitive capacities, and access the critical information they need to succeed at the postsecondary level.

What began in 2009 as a handful of students and parents meeting weekly after school at the local teen center is now the most comprehensive college readiness program in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. To date, seventy students have graduated from BRYC. Of them, sixty-five currently attend four-year colleges including Stanford, Wesleyan, NYU, Wisconsin-Madison, Howard, Morehouse, LSU and many others, and have collectively been awarded more than $4 million in scholarships. In fall 2014, another twenty-three BRYC Fellows will matriculate to four-year colleges including Brown, Emory, University of Virginia, Howard, Morehouse, Spelman and many others.
