The primary objectives and purposes of the
Foundation is to operate, preserve, enhance and promote the potential of
Hakone Estate & Gardens, a Japanese Garden, for the benefit, enjoyment and inspiration of the
general public and future generations; to educate and promote awareness of
Japanese and Asian culture; to encourage respect for nature; to use the Estate
& Gardens as a venue for bridging the civilizations of the Western
Hemisphere and Asia; and for building cross-cultural ties in our emerging
Global Culture.
