The Essex County Presby Memorial Iris Gardens is a living museum housing the largest public collection of irises in the world. The Gardens contain 10,000 irises representing 3,000 named cultivars. The collection boasts registered irises dating back to 1500. During our Bloom Season in May and June, 10,000 visitors from around the world come to see our magnificent “Rainbow on the Hill.” The garden was begun in 1927 and has been listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Sites since 1980.
