TCSD STATEMENTS OF BELIEF • We believe that teaching the Lakota culture-- including its language, art, history, sovereignty and spirituality--will develop in our children a respect for self, others and the world community. • We believe that our children need a deep understanding of all world cultures and issues. • We believe in providing healthy and safe schools that will allow children to become balanced in mind, body and spirit. • We believe that education and learning are lifelong processes; all students can learn and succeed. • We believe that the school, the home and the community should work as a team to direct the education of our children. • We believe that all aspects of tribal life affect the education of our children; all issues and segments of tribal living must be considered in our educational goals. • We believe that honoring each person’s accomplishments and contributions is important. MISSION STATEMENT The Todd County School District is a partner with families, communities, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and other education groups. We pledge to prepare our students for success academically, socially, culturally and spiritually in an ever changing world.
