Sure We Can

Sure We Can is a recycling center, community space, and sustainability hub in Brooklyn, NY. Sure We Can’s mission is to serve independent recyclers, also known as “canners” - people who collect bottles and cans to earn income 5-cents at a time under New York State’s “Bottle Bill,” through economic empowerment, social inclusion, and environmental awareness.

Sure We Can is the only nonprofit, community-based bottle and can redemption center in New York City and a thriving community space for canners, and provides recycling, employment, outreach, and community development services to canners in a compassionate and sensitive context. Our work lies in ensuring canners receive fair pay for their work, opportunities to grow in their job and their lives, opportunities to advocate to institutions for improvement of their conditions, and above all, dignity, support, and belonging.
