CEPAC

CEPAC, which stands for Cost-Effectiveness of Preventing AIDS Complications, is an HIV clinical modeling team that is based out of the Massachusetts General Hospital. We compare the effectiveness of different HIV treatment strategies, in collaboration with investigators at Harvard School of Public Health, Boston University, Yale University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and University of Tourcoing in Lille, France. This effort has expanded to include investigators in South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, India, Mexico, and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). The 875-bed world-renowned medical center offers sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in virtually every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery. In addition, MGH conducts the largest hospital-based research program in the United States, with an annual research budget of more than $400 million. It is the oldest and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. In March 1994, the MGH joined with Brigham and Women's Hospital to form Partners HealthCare System, Inc., an affiliation established to create an integrated health care delivery system providing excellent, cost-effective care while maintaining the hospital's historic dedication to teaching and research. The MGH is the largest nongovernment employer in the city of Boston, with almost 16,000 employees. In July 2003 the MGH was named one of the country's best hospitals by U.S. News and World Report for the fourteenth year, ranking fourth nationwide.
