The social, political and economic conditions of Pakistan are becoming worst day-by-day, as the politicians, bureaucracy and the establishment together stand unaccountable and people are isolated from participation in decision making. This unaccountability has resulted of the masses’ frustration towards the political process itself. Pakistan has become an over-developed state. Due to the lack of political will, society is infected with religious fanaticism, sectarian violence, discrimination against women and religious minorities, illiteracy, diseases and drug addiction and, above all, disregard for the future of the youth. Hardly one can disagree that youth suffers the most being at the lowest ebb of national priorities in Pakistan. Pakistan does not have a vibrant, liberal and scientific Youth Policy or rather it does not have any such policy at all. The developments have been on hit and trial basis, dictated by the whim of specific circumstances, farcical ideologies and misconceptions based on discrimination and hatred. As the result of that, youth have been disorientated and misused. The prevalent culture of intolerance, lack of leadership and democratic values can be seen through the same prism of national disregard for the youth, or on other words, the country itself in the futuristic perspective. Alive to the realities, as mentioned above, a group of likeminded youth from rural locales of the District Sargodha got together and decided to work with youth. The group decided to engage the youth on number of issues concerning society at large, such as democracy, education, health, etc. and to create a space for providing guidance to them about their future course. In this sense, the group opted for conceptual, ideological and practical work-base in the far flung and relatively neglected area of Pakistan. The group was formally formed in 1994 and registered as Future Development Foundation in 2004.
