The Los Angeles Maritime Institute (LAMI) uses sail training to provide at-risk youth with real-life challenges that develop knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to live healthy, productive lives. Youth are encouraged to explore and gain an understanding of the ocean and marine environments through "hands on" experiences during their time aboard the vessels.
